The hour is at hand. The time has come. We experience the joyous demonstration of loyalty to Jesus as he enters Jerusalem, only to be betrayed, tried and crucified a few days later. This is a day to remember and reflect on the culmination of Jesus’s journey and the shocking reality his followers faced when they saw him convicted and killed. The hour is at hand. The time has come.
On this night Christians commemorate the supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and instituted the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The word Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command.” The “Maundy” in “Maundy Thursday” refers to the command Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper, that they should love and serve one another.
The sanctuary will be open from 6:00 – 7:00 pm for people to come and reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice for us and the Last Supper. It will be a time of quiet meditation and Pastor Mickey will be serving communion throughout the hour. This won’t be an entire service and everyone is invited to stop by anytime during the hour for a time of personal remembrance.
The Good Friday Service will be a joint service with Hope Community Presbyterian Church at 6:00 pm. Please join us for this powerful and meaningful reflection as told from the viewpoint of each of the characters at the cross.
Join us at 9:00 am for Easter Breakfast. The menu will include a Ham-n-Egg Bake; Fruit, Toast, Milk and Juice. We look forward to seeing you!
